Welcome to The Bay Horse Hotel – Ulverston
For the past 35 years Robert and Lesley Lyons along with their small, friendly team have welcomed overnight guests and customers to their simple inn where many years ago folk would once have stayed before making the treacherous crossing over the Morecambe Bay sands by coach and horse or on foot. During this time they have played host to countless celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries and the occasional wedding. It’s the perfect place to stay should you be a cyclist, angler, golfer or about to embark on walking The Cumbria Way, or simply to have a relaxing break. We also have safe storage for cyclist’s bikes.
Just like the changing of the tide, we want more of our customers to enjoy the start of the day (we face East and witness some spectacular sunrises) and will be introducing our new Breakfast/Brunch menu from October 2023 between 9 and 11 am (link to menu), Wednesday to Sunday. Meet up with friends and family or have a Breakfast Meeting (if on business in the area, your clients are sure to be impressed with the choice of location.)
Live locally and want to experience the view? Check out our room only rates on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our Conservatory Restaurant will be closed on these days but there is plenty to choose from in Ulverston town centre. If you are staying overnight and need to be on the road before 9 am, there will now be an option for a help yourself, light breakfast (yoghurt, cereals, fruit, toast and homemade preserves, tea and coffee for just £10)
We will also be re-introducing our popular Afternoon Teas (Gift Vouchers available). Booking essential.
Well behaved dogs are still welcome to stay overnight. However, there will now be a small charge.
The restaurant will be open as usual for lunches, lite bites and bar meals from Tuesday to Sunday and evening meals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights only.
We hope you can join us!

“Faultless stay. Excellent, friendly staff. Restaurant food was amazing.”
“I stayed because a local judge used to stay over on court visits to Barrow. I can see why, the view is spectacular and the food sublime, coupled with good Cumbrian service this is a great place to visit”
